LA-LA- Born and raised in the fertile musical scene of the San Fransico Bay area, Mark Wise is both an outstanding singer and excellent tunesmith with an easygoing style that draws on both authentic roots music and the storyteller tradition of the great singer/songwriters. An invitation to play at the Moab Utah Folk Festival in November 2005 with additional club gigs in Colorado and California took Mark Wise and his Swiss guitarist/producer Andi Gisler to the US where enthusiastic audience response to their performances provided the push they needed to finally start working on a new CD. The result is ,Leaving L.A.’, a collection of songs that paints a musical landscape of America fron the deserts of the southwest (Blue Mountain) to the California coast (Best Part Bout Remembering) to the prohibition era midwest (Sallisaw) , to mention three of the twelfe tunes included here. Mark and Andi, along with a fine group of musicians and Mark’s long time singing partner, the wonderful Rebekka Dold, have done an excellent job of mixing lovely balads with good time rockers which will surely delight fans of what the press has decided to call ,Americana’. Die erdigen, traditionellen Klänge von 'Blue Mountain' und 'Sallisaw' beschreiben den Mythos 'Wilder Westen' mit seinen Gesetzten und Outlaws. 'When love says Adios' und 'High Plains Oklahoma' zeigen das Crossover-Potential von Wise: Americana in Form perfekter Popsongs. Bei mehreren Songs wird Mark von der jungen Sängerin Rebekka Dold unterstützt. Dieses perfekte Vocalduo erinnert positiv an die grossen Country-Duette der Vergangenheit. Produziert wurde 'Leaving L.A' von Andi Gisler, eingespielt mit Wises europäischer Band, die keinen Vergleich mit amerikanischen Exponenten dieses Genres zu scheuen braucht.
